Birth Chart Calculator

Your free birth chart at a glance: sun sign, moon sign and rising sign — the three core points of your astrological profile. Enter your birth date, time and place.

Your details never leave your browser. Nothing is stored or sent.

Good to know — without an exact birth time the moon sign and rising sign are approximate. Times use standard (non-daylight-saving) offsets. Astrology is for reflection and entertainment.

How the birth chart calculator works

This birth chart calculator works out the three building blocks at the heart of any natal chart: your sun sign, your moon sign and your rising sign (ascendant). It uses your birth date for the Sun, your birth date and time for the Moon, and the time and place together for the ascendant — the sign that was climbing over the eastern horizon at your birth.

Pick your birthplace from the list, or choose "Other" to enter your own latitude, longitude and UTC offset for anywhere in the world. With an exact time, all three points are precise; without one, the Sun is still reliable while the Moon and ascendant become approximate.

Sun, Moon and Rising

Together these three signs sketch your astrological profile. The Sun stands for your core identity, the Moon for your feelings and inner world, and the rising sign for how you come across to others. A full natal chart adds the planets and houses, but these three are the place to start. Read them as a thoughtful lens rather than a forecast.

Frequently asked questions

What does a birth chart show?

A full natal chart maps the Sun, Moon, planets and houses at your birth. This calculator works out the three core points most people start with: your sun sign, moon sign and rising sign (ascendant).

What do I need to enter?

Your birth date, your birth time and your birthplace. The Sun needs only the date, while the Moon and especially the rising sign depend on the exact time and place.

How accurate is it without a birth time?

Your sun sign is reliable from the date alone, but the moon sign and rising sign become approximate without an exact time. For those two, the more precise your time, the better the result.

Does this replace a full natal chart?

No. A complete birth chart adds all the planets, houses and aspects. This tool gives you the three key points — Sun, Moon and Rising — as a clear, free starting place.
